1. Are there any Canon characters to play?
2. Can I bring in a different Sci-Fi not listed in the Rules of Conduct?
3. What do you mean by 'Classes' and can I make my character a custom class?
4. Can I make a custom ship instead of using one of the existing classes? Or, there's a ship class I want to use that is not on the Ship Classes list; can I use it?

No.
We feel the presence of playable Canon's will limit the progression of the story. It's too easy to feel it necessary for a Canon to be present in order for something important or major to occur. On Cosmic Strata we are not focused around any specific Canon's adventure(s), nor will we allow any sort of 'Galactic Hero' that can go against all odds to save the Cosmos. We are not here to replay previous successes, bask in post-glories, or set up inter-fi match ups, but to develop our own legacy; each and every member with their own ideas and contributions.
Canon's are difficult to play truthfully and due to their already existing characterization they tend to become static individuals or risk falling 'out of character' with their predefined self.

2. Can I bring in a different Sci-Fi not listed in the Rules of Conduct?
Yes and no. Currently accepted Sci-Fi's are kept up-to-date in our Rules of Conduct and non-listed ones are not open to be played. However, that does not mean that our list will not grow overtime. As our collective story grows so will the playable world, as long as you help us get there. That being said there are some Sci-Fi's that are OFF-LIMITS:
i) Avatar iii) Doctor Who v) Star Trek* ii) Battlestar Galactica iv) Mass Effect
*Might be considered if a sufficiently plausible integration is presented without any multi-verse involvement

3. What do you mean by 'Classes' and can I make my character a custom class?
The Classes board in the Codex is a more in-depth look at the available special 'professions' a character can be as well as an extension of the Limitations following the Character Template. These will not include general things such as pilots, engineers, merchants, assistants/servants, etc. With this in mind, you can create a new class of character as long as it a)fits within our designated time-line and available 'worlds', and b)you have proof of the approval of an admin. We plan for the available classes to grow based on what our members are using so do not be afraid to present a new character class to us as we may have already considered it but hadn't listed it due to no one using it. When suggesting a new class it may not be individual specific without very good reasoning behind it ['individual specific' being specially designed for your character and not being accessible to anyone else].

4. Can I make a custom ship instead of using one of the existing classes? Or, there's a ship class I want to use that is not on the Ship Classes list; can I use it?
The Space Vessel Registry template possesses 2 areas regarding customized ships. Most ships have some sort of customizations from the base model and those must be mentioned in the 'Modifications/Customizations' section at the bottom. If you want to create a completely custom ship, or a ship with major modifications to the point it could be considered a separate class, you would fill in that same section but also near the top of the application where it has 'Cust: Y/N' you would put 'Cust: Y'. Ships with only minor modifications would keep that option as 'Cust: N'.
The list of available ship classes is composed in such detail for exactly this reason. No, you may not use a ship that is listed on a wiki or the like that we do not have on our list. The reason? Because it is either from an era we are not in or it was perceived as too powerful; such as space stations, secret weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction. However, if you think that the ship class you found does suit our timeline and could be used feel free to present it to an admin. Please provide plenty of source material and references for us to quickly research the ship.
